Frank Edgar Cornish IV was well known as a professional football player. An All-American at UCLA, Frank went on to become a two-time Super Bowl Champion with the Dallas Cowboys. Frank took great pride in his accomplishments as an athlete. However, what was most important to Frank was being a loving and dedicated husband and father to his wife, Robin, and their five children Frank V, Gabrielle, Sydney, Sarah and Blake. In addition, he had an immense passion for serving as a coach, mentor and role model to the youth and serving the Southlake community.
A Chicago native, Frank came to Southlake in 1993. He loved his community and recognized its potential for growth, diversity and cultural richness. Determined to play an active role in serving his community, he stepped up and got involved. The City Council, recognizing his influence and dedication, appointed him to the Southlake Parks and Recreation Board, where he served as Chair, as well as the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He supported Southlake Carroll ISD by serving on the Carroll Education Foundation Board.
Frank’s wife, Robin, is a charter member of DFW Mid-Cities chapter and served as Charter Historian. Frank served as the first Father’s Auxiliary Chair and designed and created the cover for the chapter’s first scrapbook. Frank was also the first father to be awarded Distinguished Father of the Year in the DFW Mid-Cities chapter.
Frank passed away suddenly August 23, 2008, at the age of 40.
Frank’s legacy as a resident and volunteer continues today. He has a park bearing his name in the heart of the Southlake Town Center. It serves as a reminder of his love, commitment, and dedication to his community and how he played a key role in the shaping of Southlake. The family and friends of Frank continue to champion his vision of a diverse, inclusive community that will inspire future generations.
